Remembering North Platte Nebraska

North Platte Nebraska is an amazing place the local folks greeted and support tens of thousands of traveling troops that passed through their tiny town on trains on their way to world war two. They baked cakes, cookies and even held dances for hundreds of train loads of young men on their way into combat in WWII. The railroad donated free space at the station for these young men to relax and forget for just a moment that they would soon be in harms way.

The honored these veterans in a most simple but important way, by letting them know they were appreciated and not forgotten.
